Here's a generic Terra Tank build I run.
| | | | Elementalist / Mesmer | 12 + 4 Earth Magic 11 + 1 Energy Storage 4 Air Magic 5 Inspiration Magic Weapon: Any weapon with +20% Enchantment length Your maximum Energy is raised by 36.
|
| | | | |
| | | | | |
EotN | Glyph of SwiftnessGlyph. For 15 seconds, your next 2 Spells recharge 25% faster, and projectiles from those spells move 200% faster. (Attrib: 4 Air Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
Core | Obsidian FleshElite Enchantment Spell. For 21 seconds, you gain +20 armor and cannot be the target of enemy Spells, but move 50% slower. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
Nightfall | Stoneflesh AuraEnchantment Spell. For 16 seconds, damage you receive is reduced by 33, and you are immune to critical attacks. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
Nightfall | Stone StrikerEnchantment Spell. For 32 seconds, whenever you take or deal elemental or physical damage, that damage is converted to earth damage. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
Core | Mantra of Earth- 20
- 10
Stance. For 50 seconds, whenever you take earth damage, the damage is reduced by 34% and you gain 2 Energy. (Attrib: 5 Inspiration Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
Core | Arcane EchoEnchantment Spell. If you cast a Spell in the next 20 seconds, Arcane Echo is replaced with that Spell for 20 seconds. Arcane Echo ends prematurely if you use a non-Spell skill. |
| | | | |
| | | |
Factions | Sliver ArmorEnchantment Spell. For 11 seconds, you have 52% chance to block attacks and whenever you are the target of a hostile Spell or attack one nearby foe is struck for 37 earth damage. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
| | | |
EotN PvE only | Ebon Battle Standard of HonorWard Spell. You plant an Ebon Battle Standard of Honor at your current location. For 10..20 seconds, non-Spirit allies in this area strike for +5..15 damage and an additional +5..10 vs. Charr. (Attrib: Ebon Vanguard rank) |
| | | | |
| |
| Terra Tank |
Be sure to use a Superior Earth Magic Rune and an Earth headgear as well to get Earth Magic up to 16.
Optional: Switch out | | | |
EotN PvE only | Ebon Battle Standard of HonorWard Spell. You plant an Ebon Battle Standard of Honor at your current location. For 10..20 seconds, non-Spirit allies in this area strike for +5..15 damage and an additional +5..10 vs. Charr. (Attrib: Ebon Vanguard rank) |
| | | | |
for | | | |
Core | Armor of EarthEnchantment Spell. For 30 seconds, you gain 62 armor, but move 12% slower. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
to boost armor by 42 more (for Hard Mode, especially...), or if you're in Jaga Moraine farming the Spectral Vaettirs, you may drop
Nightfall | Stone StrikerEnchantment Spell. For 32 seconds, whenever you take or deal elemental or physical damage, that damage is converted to earth damage. (Attrib: 16 Earth Magic) |
| | | | |
and take | | | |
Nightfall PvE only | IntensityEnchantment Spell. For 10 seconds, your spells deal 15..25% more damage. (Attrib: Sunspear rank) |
| | | | |
instead. Why? The Vaettirs do Earth Damage, oddly enough, for their melee attacks.
Drawbacks: Obviously there is no self-heal, so if you're in a party, you'll want some healers. If you're soloing, you'll want to make sure you don't take much damage. Or run an E/Mo variant with a self heal and
Prophecies | Balthazar's SpiritEnchantment Spell. While you maintain this Enchantment, target ally gains adrenaline and Energy after taking damage. (The amount of adrenaline gained increases depending on your rank in Smiting Prayers.) (Attrib: Smiting Prayers) |
| | | | |
.
Edit: You could also take
Core | Ether FeastSpell. Target foe loses 3 Energy. You are healed 17..41..49 for each point of Energy lost. (Attrib: Inspiration Magic) |
| | | | |
, and boost up your Inspiration Magic some more at the cost of having less Energy overall.

| Enchanted Tank | Worked very well in Slaver's Exile, especially for tanking Duncan. Just make sure that you're the first in agro range, use all geomancer armor, and he's reduced to nothing but a wander. It also helps if the swappers only take the disenchantment spirit away, so that you have more things hitting you for energy.
Also, I've found that a good swap for Sliver is to use Radiation Field. Good AoE plus diseased condition, for additional pressure on the monks to exhaust themselves
Only downside that I find to Terra-Tanking: If agro breaks, you pretty much just stand there looking stupid, since so many of your skills are used just to keep yourself alive.

That's a good idea, I'll have to try working in Radiation Field.

True enough, which is why I've finally completed my scythe build for Iscaroth (well, almost, just need a couple of skills)

Why has everyone in Guild Wars forgotten that tanks have really big guns to kill stuff?
